Claustrophilia

ExtraIntensity
What it is

Claustrophilia is sexual arousal from being confined in a tight, enclosed space — the erotic opposite of exhibitionist, open-air kinks. Being physically trapped or wrapped up produces, for some, a cocoon-like comfort; for others, a thrilling jolt of fear. It can mean being boxed in, wrapped tightly, stuffed into a small container, or mummified so movement is nearly impossible. The mix of helplessness, pressure, and enclosure is the draw. It overlaps closely with bondage and mummification.

Why people are into it

For some it's the security of being tightly held and utterly contained; for others it's the adrenaline of induced claustrophobia and helplessness. Either way, surrendering to total enclosure can be a powerful psychological release.

In practice

A partner might wrap the other in plastic, blankets, or bondage tape (mummification), zip them into a body bag or sleep sack, or shut them into a cage or small box for a set time, staying close throughout. The enclosed person can only feel, breathe, and wait.

Safety & consent

Airflow is the non-negotiable: never fully cover the nose and mouth, and never seal someone into anything airtight. Watch for overheating, keep the person able to signal, and never leave them alone — panic can escalate fast. Agree a clear signal and a time limit, and have a way to release them quickly.

Good to know

The same setup can read as soothing or terrifying depending on the person: some chase the calming, weighted-blanket 'squeeze' of being tightly held, while for others the appeal is squarely the claustrophobic fear itself.
