Face slapping

BDSMIntensity
What it is

Face slapping is consensual open-handed striking of a partner's face — impact play prized less for pain than for its psychological punch. A slap to the cheek is intimate and charged: it reads instantly as dominance, and can carry humiliation, degradation, or raw intensity. In a D/s dynamic it reinforces roles and reminds both partners who's in charge. It ranges from a light, teasing tap to firm, scene-punctuating strikes. It's often woven into rougher sex or domination play.

Why people are into it

Few acts say 'dominance' as directly as a slap to the face, which is exactly its appeal — degradation and surrender for the receiver, potent control for the giver. The shock and sting also snap both partners into a heightened, present headspace.

In practice

The dominant warns or cues the first strike, then delivers open-handed slaps to the fleshy cheek, calibrating force to the mood — often paired with dirty talk, hair-pulling, or other rough play. Many start light and build as the receiver signals for more.

Safety & consent

Strike only the fleshy cheek — roughly cheekbone-to-jaw, between the ear and the corner of the mouth — using loose fingers, not a stiff palm. Avoid the ear (can rupture the eardrum), eyes, nose, lips, jaw hinge, and neck entirely. Start gently and build, keep a non-verbal signal since a slapped partner may be disoriented, and never slap in real anger.
