Praise Kink
A praise kink is arousal from being verbally appreciated, admired, or affirmed — 'good girl,' 'you're doing so well,' 'so perfect for me' — during sex or a power-exchange dynamic. It's the mirror image of a degradation kink: instead of insults, warmth and approval are what turn the person on. It's especially common in submissives, who light up at pleasing their partner and being told so. It ranges from a sweet enhancer to a central need for verbal affirmation to feel aroused and secure. It overlaps with dominance/submission and affectionate domination.
Being praised satisfies a deep desire to be 'good,' wanted, and approved of — for submissives, pleasing a dominant and hearing it is intensely validating and arousing. The warmth builds trust and safety, which paradoxically frees people to let go and enjoy more.
The dominant (or partner) offers steady verbal encouragement and approval — praising the submissive's body, obedience, or effort — as reward and motivation throughout a scene. It can stand alone or reward compliance in a D/s dynamic.
Very low-risk and gentle by nature. The main note is that praise should be genuine and calibrated to what lands for the person, and — like any dynamic — kept honest rather than manipulative. Otherwise just enjoy.
