Sounding
Sounding is inserting a slender rod (a 'sound') or similar toy into the urethra — the tube the penis (or, less commonly, the vulva) urinates through — for erotic sensation. It stimulates a rarely-touched, nerve-rich passage from the inside, producing an intense, unusual fullness, and often carries a strong submissive or medical-play charge. Purpose-made steel or silicone sounds and urethral toys are used; related practices include catheter play. It's an advanced, medically-adjacent kink with real risks. It overlaps with medical play, CBT, and submission.
The appeal is the utterly novel, intense internal sensation of a spot almost nothing else reaches, plus the deep vulnerability and surrender of being penetrated there — often heightened by a clinical, medical, or dominant framing. For many the taboo and helplessness are as potent as the physical feeling.
With everything sterile, a well-lubed sound is eased into the urethra and allowed to slide slowly under its own weight (never forced), producing a full, tingling sensation, sometimes as part of medical roleplay or a submissive scene. It's done slowly and carefully.
Treat this as high-risk. Use only proper, purpose-made sounds — never improvised objects — sterilize every one, start with a larger beginner size, use plenty of sterile water-based lube, and let it slide by its own weight; forcing causes urethral tears or 'false passages.' Stop at pain or bleeding, never lose an object inside, and watch for UTI or infection afterward, seeking medical care if it appears.
