Strap-on
A strap-on is a dildo worn in a harness so the wearer can penetrate a partner — vaginally, anally, or orally — regardless of their own anatomy. As a kink it's the erotic love of using (or being used by) one, and it opens penetration to any pairing: a woman penetrating a man (known as pegging), partner with partner in same-sex play, or simply adding a second option. Harnesses, dildo shapes, and sizes vary enormously to suit both wearer and receiver. It flips or expands the usual penetration roles. It overlaps closely with pegging, anal play, and dominance dynamics.
For the wearer, there's the novel thrill of penetrating and the confident, often dominant role reversal; for the receiver, the fullness and, in pegging, prostate pleasure. Many couples love how it flips or broadens traditional roles and expands what's possible together.
The wearer straps into the harness and penetrates the receiver in any position, controlling pace and depth much like any penetrative sex, usually after warming the receiver up (especially for anal). Communication about angle and depth keeps it good, since the wearer can't feel it directly.
Use lots of lube — essential for anal — and go slowly to avoid tears, since the wearer doesn't get direct feedback. Keep condoms on the dildo (and change them between anal and vaginal or between partners), choose body-safe toys, and let the receiver guide depth and pace. Clean the toy and harness after use.
Strap-on is the umbrella — the tool and any use of it — while 'pegging' names the specific case of a woman anally penetrating a man. So all pegging is strap-on play, but strap-on covers far more (any gender, any orifice). Some harnesses also hold a second dildo to stimulate the wearer.
